Video/Info for: Openness and Flexibility
Shyness and rigidity are personality traits that seem unrelated but they can both limit what one chooses to participate in. As with any other personality traits there are certainly some benefits of these attributes. Shyness may help avoid one joining a dangerous group and rigidity may help one’s sense of discipline. However, they also block one from exploring new paths that can help one grow.
There are two primary ways in which our breathing app helps one with being shy and rigid. It is important to note that shyness and inability to try new paths is not only a mind state, it also reflects in how one holds one’s posture. Shyness is reflected in how a person stands, how the neck area is closed, how the posture is not open. Rigidity of the mind also often reflects in the stiffness of the posture.
There is a close mind-body link and this is a link that allows one to use a body posture to influence the mind state. In this app we use breathing sequences that not only focus on the breath but also involve body movements that require the user to open the throat and look forward or upwards. The breath sequences seen in the Learning Studio also encourage one to open the chest and shoulders and to stretch the spine. Additionally the breath is done with different breath phases as described by the videos in the learning studio.
All of the breathing sequences are presented in the Learning Studio along with detailed instructions. The user will find them easy to master.
In the customization space of the app one can create a Video Playlist from the videos from the Learning Studio. These playlists can be used to guide yourself through a sequence, at times set by you, using the reminders feature in the customization area.
In this app we also have the Breath Timing Playlist feature where the user can do the following while using a breath sequence chosen and memorized from the Learning Studio:
1. customize breath time and breath phase (i.e. inhale time, pause after inhale, exhale time and pause after exhale);
2. add visualization by choosing and animation while breathing and this animation expands and contracts helping the user keep pace with the chosen breath, and
3. choose an affirmation that uplifts one’s mind state.
